Sydney Cecil Fritch Boggs, 80, formerly of Indianapolis, IN, and St. Louis, MO, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013, in Prosser, WA. She was born January 25, 1933 in Indianapolis to the late Leonard Fritch and Bessie (Cropper) Curtis, and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur “Boots” Boggs and her sister Donna Deugan. Sydney worked as a school secretary for IPS #14, Division of Homeland Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and Christian Board of Publication in St. Louis. After retirement she moved to Prosser, WA, where she was active as Executive Director of Jubilee Ministries, founding member of the Latte Loonies and founder of The Mr. Pebbles Fund.
Sydney is survived by her daughters, Denise and Rose Boggs and Marisa (Christopher) Marquart; her sons, Arthur Devon, Cameron and Daryl (Victoria) Boggs; her grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Marquart, Joseph and Noah Tewell and Lacey Mercer; her great-grandchildren, Connor, Claire and Kal-El Tewell; her sisters, Ruby Hogue, Elizabeth Davee, Gertrude Curtis and Peggy Smith; her brother, Earl Curtis; and her lifelong friend, Sally Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Prosser United Methodist Church in Prosser. A second memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Centenery Christian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sydney’s name to Jubilee Ministries in Prosser or the Mr. Pebbles Fund at Prosser Animal Hospital.
