Sibyl Ann (McMullen) Michener Harper went home to be with the Lord on Monday,
April 30, 2012, at her home in Prosser, Washington with her family by her side.
Sibyl was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Robert and Emily (Bray) McMullen on December 10, 1939. Sibyl was raised in Kennewick, Washington, graduating from Kennewick High School in 1958 and Columbia Basin College in 1960.
Sibyl met Roy Michener at Columbia Basin College and they were married in Kennewick in March, 1960. They made their home in Prosser until Roy’s death in September, 1982. Sibyl married Tom Harper in Richland in 1983, where they resided until retiring in 1989 from the Hanford Nuclear Project in Richland. Following retirement, they traveled fulltime for two years and then settled in Cosmopolis, Washington in 1991. They were married for 24 years until Tom’s death in 2007. Following Tom’s death Sibyl relocated back to Prosser to be close to family.
Through the years, Sibyl enjoyed the hobbies of embroidery work, sewing, wood refinishing, playing dominoes with friends and entertaining her grandchildren.
Since relocating to Prosser, Sibyl has been a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prosser and a member of the Happy Time Band.
She is survived by two sons, Bill Michener (Julie) and family of Grandview, WA, Jim Michener (Angie) and family of Prosser, WA; four stepchildren, Cathy Moe (Greg) and family of Olympia, WA, Terry Harper and family of Olympia, WA, Joe Harper (Shellie) of San Diego, CA, Doug Harper (Missie) and family of Olympia, WA; two siblings, brother, David McMullen of Post Falls, Idaho and sister, Nancy McMullen of Spokane Valley, WA; ten grandchildren; one great- granddaughter; five step-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren. Sibyl was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Roger McMullen in 2005; and her brother, Robert McMullen in 2007.
A celebration of her life will be held at Prosser Funeral Home on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow. The family invites all who knew Sibyl to join them.
