Scott John Pontin, 53, passed away on September 26, 2016.
Scott was born on June 12, 1963, in Prosser, WA and was a long-time resident, business owner, operator of Pontin del Roza Winery and managed the Pontin family farm.
Scott’s strong passion for wine initially began as part of a FFA grape growing project during his freshman year of high school. Scott went on to earn a certification in Enology at UC-Davis and became head winemaker and the vision behind the Pontin del Roza Winery.
Scott served on numerous boards and committees throughout the local Prosser community including business commerce and wine associations and was a strong presence in Prosser.
He enjoyed traveling, riding his Harley and spending time with his family, friends and pets Koda and Harley.
Scott is survived by his life partner, Dustin DeWeber of Richland; loving parents, Nesto and Delores (Helm) Pontin of Prosser; siblings, Collene (Mike) Little of Richland and Diane (John) Gessner of Prosser; sister in law Rochelle “Shelly” Pontin of Prosser; and numerous extended family members. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Angelo and Louisa Pontin, Fred and Irma Helm; and his brother, Larry Pontin.
A Celebration of Scott’s Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 3, 2016 at the Walter Clore Center in Prosser, WA followed by a Graveside Service at the Prosser Cemetery. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Scott’s honor to the local Benton and Franklin Humane Society.
