Salvador A. Mora, age 95, passed away, Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at his home surrounded by family. Salvador was born in Junction City, Kansas, March 4, 1921 to a strong family line of migrate laborers. Salvador lived his entire adult life in the Yakima Valley, residing in Grandview, WA, with his wife of 73 years, Dolores L. Mora.
In 1942, during World War II, Salvador fulfilled his call to duty in the armed services of the United States of America. After his service, he and his bride lived in Wapato with his maternal grandparents. He supported his growing family in the early years employed with a local Yakima Valley hop ranch maintenancing all the ranch equipment. Salvador worked for a several years as a seasonal laborer with the Grandview Safeway manufacturing plant. The seasonal work paid off for Sal; in 1960 he was hired permanently. His duties included lifting 100 lb. bags of raw peanuts into roasters daily and worked in the margarine blending area. Salvador retired 1980 after 25 years of service.
Survived by his children: Rosemary Rodriguez of Pasco, WA, Lupe Mora of Mt Vernon, WA, Clara Mora of Puyallup, WA, Becky and Dale Knott of Mabton, WA, David and Linda Mora of Burien, WA, Rudy Mora, unknown address, Gloria and Larry Gonzales of Selah, WA, Josie and Roger Candanoza of Prosser, WA, Richard Mora of Everett, WA, Rita and Mike Anderson of Puyallup, WA, Maggie Mora of S. San Francisco, CA and Joe and Malinda Mora of Grandview, WA
Salvador is also survived by sisters, Elena Mora of California and Maria Gutierrez of Texas; along with 31 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded by his eldest sister Lupe Mora and brothers’ Albert, Phillip, David, and his son Jesse Anthony Mora.
We want to acknowledge the medical care and guidance the staff of the Heartlinks Hospice & Palliative Care of Sunnyside extended to our family this year. Heartlinks not only supported our family and Father this week, but also aided in the care of our Mother, Dolores, in August.
