Richard Monroe Craig

d. June 28, 2014

Richard Monroe Craig, 64, of Boise, passed away on June 28, 2014, in Prosser, Washington. Richard was born in Richland, WA on September 25, 1949, and moved to Prosser a year later. He often spoke fondly of growing up on the farm in Prosser. He graduated from Prosser High School in 1967, Columbia Basin College in 1970, Washington State University in 1972, and Western Evangelical Seminary in Portland in 1975.

Having a diverse career, Richard worked for the National Park Service in Fairbanks, Alaska and at Mt. Rainer; as a civilian employee of the Navy in Bremerton; for Microsoft in Seattle and at Hewlett Packard in Boise. He was a long time resident of Boise when he passed away.

Richard spent much time researching many topics including religion, philosophy and psychology, and was fond of sharing his insights. He particularly enjoyed enlightening his sons with his humorous and sometimes superfluous findings. Pictures of his grandchildren always brought joy to his heart since they all lived in other states. People were drawn to his extroverted personality and he enjoyed talking with them.

Richard is survived by sons, Andrew Craig (Michelle), James Craig (Autumn), and Thomas Craig (Jennifer); sister, Artrice Conant (Charles); brother, Kenneth Craig (Joan); grandchildren, James, Jr., Elliada, Rebecca, Owen, Elizabeth, Katherine, and Grace; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Beatrice Craig, his brother, Edward Craig and granddaughter, Lillian Craig.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, July 9 at 12:00 Noon at the Prosser United Methodist Church.
