Othie Lyndal DeWitt entered into rest on January 1, 2019 at Peace of Mind Adult Family Home in Richland. He was born to Othie Raymond and Laura (Reamer) DeWitt on October 21, 1947 in Barr, Illinois and was raised and educated in Pomeroy, Illinois. He left Pomeroy in 1963, lived in San Jose, California for two years and then moved to the Yakima Valley in 1965. He lived most of his adult life in Prosser.

Othie served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After his discharge he worked for Tioga in Grandview for about eight years. He then worked as a security officer for Energy Northwest at Hanford for over thirty years retiring in 2009.

Othie enjoyed computers, guns, hunting and fishing, sci-fi shows, books and movies (he loved Star Trek) and MASH was one of his favorite shows of all time. He was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Othie is survived by his children, Michael DeWitt of Lebanon, Missouri, Ava (DeWitt) Marshall of Prosser, Elaine (DeWitt) Browning of Connell, Rebecca (DeWitt) Chamberlain of Connell, Matthew DeWitt of Yakima, Elizabeth (DeWitt) Cartwright of Troy, OH; and Katie DeWitt of Prosser; and seventeen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers, Ray DeWitt and David DeWitt; his twin sister, Linda and sisters, Doty, Gail and Sandra.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant children, Kathy and Robert; sisters, Barbie and Vicki; and brothers, Terry and Lanny.

A Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Prosser Cemetery. You may leave a message for the family at www.prosserfuneralhome.com
