Mark Aaron Metheny, 55, of Prosser, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Prosser Memorial Hospital.
He was born on December 15, 1959 in Afton, Oklahoma to Raymond and Ethel (Gallaway) Metheny. In 1965, the family moved to Grandview and later to Granger and Sunnyside where Mark attended high school. He worked for Snokist in Grandview for a few years and for the past twenty-seven years worked for Kenyon Zero Storage in Prosser and Grandview.
Mark married Patricia “Patty” Esche on April 17, 1992 in Grandview. They made their home in Prosser in 2000.
Mark was a member and trustee of the Eagle’s Lodge and helped co-ordinate many benefit fundraisers, something he thoroughly enjoyed. He was also a member of the Teamsters, Local #760 and served as shop steward. He also was a former volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician for the Grandview Fire Department and in 1986 was awarded Fireman of the Year.
He enjoyed camping and annual trips to the Blue’s Festival in Goldendale.
Mark is survived by his wife of twenty-two years, Patty of Prosser; three sons, William “Billy” of Sunnyside, Brett Link of Ritzville and Brandon of Prosser; five grandchildren; and his mother, Ethel Metheny of Grandview. He is also survived by his sister, Mary (Ray) Schloss of Grandview; four brothers, John (Dave Green) Mason of Union Gap, Allen (Camie) Metheny of Redmond, Jimmy (Susan) Metheny of Yakima and David (Elvira) of Grandview; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray, in 1980; infant son, Brian; sister, Kathy Mason; and brothers, Ronnie and Richard Metheny; and step-father, John Meiser in 2003.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Thursday, February 26th at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Prosser. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 25th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Prosser Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Prosser Eagle’s Lodge.
