Margery Campbell Mackey

d. November 10, 2011

Margery Campbell Mackey passed away at home in Prosser, WA on November 10, 2011. Margery
was born April 30, 1922 in Piedmont, CA, to Malcolm E Campbell and Margery S (Coogan)
Campbell. She graduated from Piedmont High and went on to attend The University of
California, Berkeley. On January 1, 1943 she married Wendell Clay Mackey of Visalia, CA. A
career in the Navy took them to many different homes in Hawaii, Rhode Island, Seattle, and
Virginia to name a few. Upon Wendell’s retirement in 1967 they settled in the Napa Valley. In
1983 they relocated to Sunriver, Oregon, and ultimately ended up in Prosser, WA where they
remained.

Most of Margery’s married life was spent raising their four children. No matter where she
lived, she found opportunities to volunteer. Most recently she served as board member and
Treasurer for the Prosser Memorial Hospital Foundation. As a member of First Presbyterian
Church of Prosser she sang with the choir, volunteered for Market Street Kids and served as a
Deacon. If not out volunteering, she could be found in her garden or traveling. Her favorite
place to go during the winter months was Molokai, Hawaii. While there she danced with a local
Hula Hulau and became a beloved member of the local community.

Margery is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Jean C Hanson, and her
son-in-law, Gerald D Williams. She is survived by sons Malcolm (Keri Zacher) of Molokai, HI,
Clay (Kay Simon) of Prosser, WA, Peter (Katharine Huber) of Westport, CT and daughter Martha
Williams of Prosser, WA. She also had six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
