Marcela Castillo, 74, of Grandview, passed away on November 19, 2015 at her home.
She was born on January 16, 1941 in Donna, Texas to Juan Jose Trevino and Matilde (Nieto) Trevino. She began driving at the age of nine and at eleven, drove her parents from Texas to Sanger, California where they made their home. Marcela married Ramon Garza Castillo on February 10, 1972 in Corcoran, CA. They made their home in Prosser in 1976. During the 1960’s and 1970’s, she worked as a nurse’s aide for Vietnam Veterans and during the 1980’s-1990’s as a teacher’s aide. She retired from Wyckoff Farms where she worked as a laborer. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking and gardening and attended the Catholic Church.
Marcela is survived by her husband, Ramon Castillo Garza of Grandview; four sons, John Joe, John Jesse, Joel Erasmo and Jeronimo; and two daughters, Fransisca and Azucena; her sister, Adalberta Soto; nineteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Macario and Miguel; her sister, Juanita; and parents, Juan Jose and Matilde Trevino.
Viewing will be held at Prosser Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 24 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM and a dinner will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Smith Hall. You may leave a message for the family at www.prosserfuneralhome.com
