Linda Mott Obituary
Linda (Cook) Mott passed away surrounded by her family on Monday February 17, 2025 at Kadlec Hospital in Richland, WA.
Linda was born February 25, 1950 in Tacoma Washington to Nadine (Jaresh) and Floyd Cook. After graduating from Lincoln High School in Tacoma in 1968, Linda spent a year at Tacoma Community College before transferring to Central Washington University, where she graduated in 1972. While at CWU she met the love of her life, Greg Mott, and they were married on August 19, 1972. Eventually Linda and Greg would settle in Yakima, WA where they raised their two children, Carrie and Josh.
Linda worked as a stay-at-home mom when her children were young, but went on to work at Fabricland on Nob Hill Blvd and Some Bagels on 48th and Tieton Drive for many years. Later in life, she returned to CWU and earned her teaching certification and started substitute teaching in the Yakima School District, something she continued until her retirement in 2018. After she retired, Linda moved to Prosser, WA to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law.
Linda was an avid crafter and seamstress throughout her life and would often be found surrounded by piles of fabric and related materials as she worked on decor for her home, clothing for her family, or gifts for friends and family members. She also loved cooking and baking and enjoyed learning about different recipes to try. Linda usually had a cat nearby and enjoyed her hobbies and her home. She was the keeper of family heirlooms and devoted many hours researching the genealogy of both her own and her husband’s family history.
Linda is survived by her son, Joshua Mott and daughter-in-law, Michelle Moyer of Prosser, WA; her daughter, Carrie Mott of Louisville, KY; and her cat, Winnie. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005, Gregory Lee Mott of Yakima, WA.
The family plans to hold a celebration of Linda’s life in June.
