Lavina Lorraine Mitzel entered into rest on July 11, 2016 at her home at Sheffield Manor in Prosser. She was born on May 10 1923 in Zeeland, North Dakota to William and Amelia (Koth) Will, the 2nd of 11 children. As a young woman, she worked at a nursing home in Bismarck, North Dakota, in order to help her family. Lavina became a pen pal to Henry Mitzel during WWII and after his discharge, the couple was married on February 9, 1946. They moved to the Yakima Valley in 1947 and settled in Prosser in 1969 where Lavina worked as a quality control inspector for Twin City Foods, retiring after 19 years.

Lavina had a sweet spirit and everyone who knew her loved her. She enjoyed doing embroidery, cross stitching and playing bingo. Her greatest joy was her family who meant everything to her.

Lavina is survived by her children, Gerald Mitzel of Othello, Dorothy Harden (Carl) of Boise, ID, and Ronald Mitzel (Pat) of Othello; five grandchildren; & six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Laura Johnston of Circle, Montana, Leona Westman & husband, Roy of Bellavista, AR and Dyann McCrory of Plentywood, MT; and brothers, Harold Will of Great Falls, MT and Arden Will and wife, Carla of Hardin, MT. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her daughter, Shirley; her son, Donald; and six siblings.
