Larry Ernest Pontin, 61, of Prosser, lost his courageous battle to cancer on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at his home.
He was born on September 19, 1952 in Yakima to Nesto and Delores (Helm) Pontin. He was raised and educated in Prosser and graduated from Prosser High School with the class of 1971. Larry married Rochelle Jean Ripplinger in Prosser on July 26, 1980.
Larry worked for several farms on the Horse Heaven Hills, ACM Feed and Grain, Baker Commodities and Bleyl Farm Service in Grandview. He was currently employed by R.E. Powell in Grandview.
Larry enjoyed drag racing and loved the outdoors and camping either in the mountains or at the ocean. He loved and adored his grandbabies and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Shelly Pontin of Prosser; five children, Heather (Noel) Noyola of Prosser, Michael (Chenea) Pontin of Las Vegas; Melissa Waddle of Kennewick, Brandie (Alex) James of Kennewick and Jaron Griffin of Pullman; and his grandchildren, Esther and Marina Noyola; Sage, Skye and Stella Pontin; Makayla Showell; and Kaden, Alexis and Mateo. He is also survived by his parents, Nesto and Delores Pontin of Prosser; two sisters, Colleen (Mike) Little of Prosser and Diane (John) Gessner of Prosser; brother, Scott Pontin and Dustin of Richland and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Angelo and Louisa Pontin and Fred and Irma Helm; uncle, Fernando Pontin and aunt, Janice Kohl.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 27th at 11 AM at the Prosser Funeral Home. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, November 26th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM .
