John A. Persinger, age 72 of Prosser, entered into rest on December 29, 2017 at Prosser Memorial Hospital.

He was born on September 5, 1945 to Buford and Nola Jean (Hysell) Persinger in Yakima, Washington. He was raised and educated in Benton City. John was a self-taught mechanic and worked for Holtzinger Fruit Company until his retirement in 2011. He enjoyed working on his farm and raising cattle.

John is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rockcee of Prosser; his children, John (Carrol) Persinger of Benton City, Corey Persinger of Prosser; Michelle (Eric) Strom of Prosser and Mathew Palen of Prosser; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his mother, Nola Salmonson of Benton City; brothers, Mick (Kate) Persinger, Jeff Salmonson of Benton City; his sister, Jeannie (Herb) Snyder of Benton City; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Buford Persinger who died when John was nine years old; his dad, Norman Salmonson; brothers, Rex Persinger, and Rick Salmonson; and his twin brother, Monty Persinger.
