James (Jim) W. Corliss, 80, of Grandview died on October 31, 2015 at The Hospice House in Kennewick after an extended illness. Jim was born on January 30, 1935 to Harold T. and Lucile B. (Whitehair) Corliss in Yakima and was raised on a farm west of Yakima. Jim earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture at Washington State College. On July 14, 1962 he married Jean Tomowske and moved to Grandview where they made their home. Jim worked as a horticulturist in the Yakima Valley and raised concord grapes in his own vineyard for more than 40 years. He was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church in both Grandview and Prosser. A Master Gardener and violinist for the Lower Valley Musical Comedy Company, Jim loved fly fishing and woodworking. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lucile Corliss, his wife, Jean Corliss, his brother, John Corliss, and his daughter, Polly Head-Corliss. Jim is survived by his son, Kevin Corliss of Prosser and grandchildren Karmin and Ken Corliss, Maya and Kellen Head-Corliss. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 2 PM at the Prosser United Methodist Church. Memorial donations can be made in Jim’s name to the Prosser United Methodist Church.
