Jack Charles Milton passed away on March 16, 2014.

Mr. Milton was born in Walla Walla, Wash., on Dec. 10, 1928. He received his schooling in Walla Walla. He married Barbara Jean Koenig on Oct. 9, 1949. They continued living in Walla Walla until Jack was drafted into the Army in March 1952. Barbara moved with her parents to Prosser, Wash., in 1953 where Jack joined her after being discharged from the Army in April 1954.

He worked as the parts manager for Prosser Equipment Co. until 1955 when he and his father-in-law, Otto Koenig, started General Parts Supply (CARQUEST). He remained active in the store until his retirement in 1988.

Mr. Milton was a past member of the Prosser Jaycees, the Prosser Chamber of Commerce and the Prosser Economic Development Council. He received the Jaycee Key Man and Distinguished Service awards, and Prosser’s Outstanding Citizen Award. He was president of the Jaycees and the Prosser Chamber of Commerce. He was a longtime active member of the Prosser Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder for many years and also taught the junior high youth group.

In his retirement, Mr. Milton liked to golf, was active in his church, and enjoyed traveling (including frequent visits to Lincoln City, Ore., and a memorable trip to London with his wife and sons) and visits to Seattle to see his sons, his daughter-in-law and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Prosser; and his two sons, Curt of Seattle, and Jay and his wife, Margaret Portelance, and his grandchildren, Elspeth Louise and Jack Charles, also of Seattle; and a half-brother, Doug Lathrop, of Woodinville, Wash.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church of Prosser.
