Garold James “Jim” Saddler, age 71, entered into rest on January 17, 2012 at his home in Prosser. He was born on December 6, 1940 in Chappell, Nebraska to Garold Edwin and Audrey Bernice (Peyton) Saddler. The family moved to Prosser in 1946 where he was raised and educated and graduated from Prosser High School in 1960. He enjoyed playing Mustang Football, track, wrestling, and basketball for four years and was a letterman in three sports. Jim and Anna Harris were married on October 2, 1965 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. They made their home in Prosser where they raised two sons, Garold James “Jim” Jr. and Brad. In 1966, he went to work for Benton Public Utility District as a ground-man and retired as manager of the Prosser Branch. He was a loyal employee of the PUD for 37 years.
Jim enjoyed hanging out and visiting with friends at Bern’s Tavern and Cottage Court Market, always with his favorite beverage in hand; a diet coke. He never knew a stranger and always looked for the good in people. He was always willing to help people, especially his family, in any way he could. In his earlier years he was into karate and enjoyed showing of his brick breaking skills. He also enjoyed bird hunting and loved trap shooting. He was a member of Rotary International, the Elks USA, The National Rifle Association, Amateur Trap Association and numerous gun clubs where he received many trophies and belt buckles trying to achieve another hundred straight.
Jim is survived by his wife, Anna Saddler; his sons, Garold James “Jim” Jr. and Brad and wife, Cheryl, all of Prosser; his brother, Rodney E. Saddler of Castle Rock, WA; his sister, Cheryl K. Baddley and her husband, Clayton of Shelton, WA; eight grandchildren, Lesa Park (Peter), Jimmy Saddler (Jessi), Brad Saddler Jr. (Brittany), Alyssa Trumble (Tyler), Casey Saddler, Jamison Saddler, Anthony Anderson and Stephanie Anderson; five great-grandchildren, Jimmy and Bentley Park, Spencer and Cason Saddler and Jaycie Trumble; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Friendship Baptist Church in Prosser. Memorials contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association c/o Prosser Funeral Home and Crematory.
