Dorothy Rlene Blair, 79, entered into rest on February 20, 2015 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. She was born on March 11, 1935 in Aurora, Missouri to Floyd and Mary A. (Benson) Gimlin. The family moved to Parker, Washington when she was five years old, to Moxee where she received her early education and then to Mabton where she attended high school. In 1960, she made her home in Prosser. Dorothy and Jerry Blair were married on February 20, 1965 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and made their home in Prosser where they raised their children.
Over the years, Dorothy worked as a waitress, fruit checker, and housekeeper at Prosser Memorial Hospital and in the deli at Prosser Food Depot. Most of all she loved being a homemaker, spending time with her children and grandchildren whom she adored. She also enjoyed crocheting, traveling and sitting on the riverbank, fishing. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ, Latter-day Saints, Prosser Ward.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Jerry Blair of Prosser; her children, Norma Carter of Milton Freewater, Oregon, Diane Sharpe and husband, Bill of Mabton, Gary Fox and wife, Linda of Zillah, Randy Fox and wife, Lynda of Prosser, Gail Blair of Helena, Montana, Jason Blair and wife, Angela of Pasco; her sisters and brothers, Edith Kelly of Prosser, Joe Gimlin and wife, Karen of California, Roy Gimlin of Richland, John Gimlin and wife, Kim of Finley, Pauline Ledgerwood and husband, Lowell of California; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lucille Kraft brothers, Bob Gimlin and Bill Gimlin; son, Jerry Blair Jr.; and son-in-law, Cliff Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27th at The Church of Jesus Christ, Latter-day Saints, Prosser Ward. Concluding services and burial will follow in the Prosser Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, February 26th at Prosser Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the family to help with medical and final expenses.
