Clara Faye Petersen
Clara Faye (Childs) Petersen, 84, was born July 26, 1928 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to John and Carmen (Hill) Childs. Clara was a loving military wife, mother, and grandmother. Her long-term pride of the men and women in her family who have served in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps throughout numerous wars carried her through years of supporting "Military Warriors". Clara married Lyle Petersen on March 11, 1956 and traveled the world living as a military wife raising a family in Hawaii and Butzbach, Germany before returning to Prosser in 1967 where she made her home until she died on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, surrounded by several of her children.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Petersen in 1976, one son, Greg Frailey in 1994, her parents, and several siblings. Survivors include: sons, Doug Frailey of Clearwater, Florida, Mark Frailey of Grandview, Washington, Mike Frailey of Ellensburg, Washington, Brent Petersen, Bill Petersen, Chris Petersen and daughter, Nancy Petersen of Prosser, Washington, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins living across the United States and brother, Jack Childs of Little Rock, Arkansas.
After retiring as a Civil Deputy from the Benton County Sheriff's office in 1988, Clara's hobbies were collecting dolls, sewing, reading, and crossword puzzles. Her love of family kept her as a much-loved matriarch who led a strong family through many military conflicts always waiting for them to return home from their individual service and never failing to support their endeavors. Clara will be missed by all who loved and looked up to her family leadership.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Prosser Funeral Home & Crematory. Concluding services and burial will follow at the Prosser Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, December 28 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Prosser Funeral Home.
