Ada “Bernice” Carroll, 99, longtime Prosser resident passed away on October 18, 2012 at Grandview Health Care Center.
She was born on April 6, 1913 in Whitman County, near Colfax, at home with a midwife assisting. She was the middle of three children born to Mabel (Bennett) Sapp and George Sapp. Bernice graduated from Pullman High School in 1932. She moved to Spokane after high school and worked in department stores in that area.
Bernice met Oddis Temple Carroll when he was stationed at Fort George Wright in Spokane. They were married in Louisville, Kentucky on April 29, 1943. After the war, they made their home in Prosser. Bernice and Temple lived in their home on Main Street in Prosser for 61 years. Temple passed away on January 1, 2007. Shortly after she went to live at Grandview Health Care Center.
Bernice was a mom and homemaker. She enjoyed artistic pursuits and did photo tinting in the days before color photos. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Vesta Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; older sister, Marjorie and younger brother, Keith.
She is survived by her sons, Fred Carroll and his wife, Nancy of Prosser and Tim Carroll and his wife, Mary of Medical Lake; granddaughter, Tania Pelletier of Richland; and great-granddaughter, Sydney Pelletier of Richland.
A private family inurnment will be held at the Prosser Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Memorials may be made to the Prosser Senior Center or Meals on Wheels.
She is now reunited with Temple, the love of her life and in God’s care. She will be missed!
